A Message to All Members of Team J & C

I love e.e. cummings. I have since I was 18. This poem, which I could never fully grasp, has been winding it’s way through my heart all day. My heart is the foot I lead with, by the way. Some people are great with their heads, their minds… I am all sensory. Seeing you, hearing you, touching you, smelling you. This is how things in the world are made real to me. I need this to be real, whatever it is to be.

since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;

wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world

my blood approves,
and kisses are a far better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don’t cry
–the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids’ flutter which says

we are for each other: then
laugh leaning back in my arms
for life’s not a paragraph

And death i think is no parenthesis
